Recipe Variations for the Cabbage Soup Diet
The Cabbage Soup Diet has been used for the past thirty years to
help people lose weight quickly. It is a 7-day diet plan that consists
of eating unlimited amounts of the Cabbage Soup, as well as eating
foods specified on the daily plan. It is recommended that you follow
the 7-day plan accurately to achieve the best results. You should
only stay on the diet for seven days, and then take a two-week break.
You are free to resume the diet after the two weeks, however and
begin the 7-day plan again.
Because the Cabbage Soup may be eaten in unlimited quantities,
the most frequent complaint about the diet is the fact that some
people become bored with eating the soup. Many people have found
that by varying the soup you can enhance the flavor and stay dedicated
to the 7-day plan easier. There are a number of different variations
of the Cabbage Soup recipe, and you may choose to include meat,
other vegetables, or even create a vegetarian version of the soup.
The trick is to find the recipe (or recipes) that work for you,
and use those. By adding variation to the soup, you will find that
you will enjoy the diet and lose those unwanted pounds quickly and
easily.
As with any other diet, you should seek your doctor’s or
health care worker’s approval before beginning the 7-day Cabbage
Soup Diet.
Here are some variations of the recipe for the Cabbage Soup Diet.
First, you begin with the Basic
Cabbage Soup Recipe. These are the ingredients for the basic
soup.
1 head of Cabbage
6 Carrots
6 Onions (medium sized)
2 Red or Green Peppers
3 Tomatoes (large sized)
5 Celery Stalks (cleaned and trimmed)
½ cup of brown rice
Salt and pepper to taste
Variations of the recipe include adding one package of Lipton Onion
Soup Mix for flavor. Some other variations include:
1 can of Mushrooms (10 ounces)
2 Bouillon Cubes
1 Can of V8 Juice (48 ounces)
Cayenne Pepper
You can also add any type of vegetables or herbs to the soup, as
you like, provided that they coincide with the vegetables that you
would normally be allowed to eat on the 7-day plan. For instance,
on Day 3 you may eat all of the vegetables that you want, except
for potatoes. Therefore, you can add vegetables to your soup, but
don’t add potatoes. However, you can add potatoes to your
soup on Day 2.
Since Day 4 is Bananas and Skim Milk, some people prefer to add
skim milk yogurt to their Cabbage Soup on this day.
Days 5 and 6 are Beef and Tomatoes/ Beef and Vegetables. You may
decide to add beef to your Cabbage Soup on these days as well. This
adds great flavor and variety and will make the soup taste more
like stew.
Day 7 is Brown Rice day. This is a good time to add Brown Rice
to your stew and plenty of vegetables as well.
By varying the recipe, you can ensure that your 7-day diet plan
will be a success.
