The Cabbage Soup Diet: Recipes
The Cabbage Soup Diet is known for its ability to allow users to
lose at least ten pounds in 7 days. The diet consists of eating
foods according to a 7-day plan, as well as consuming unlimited
amounts of Cabbage Soup. The Cabbage Soup included in the diet plan
contains very little calories and may be cooked using a variety
of different spices and vegetables. Since the bulk of food consumed
during the diet is the Cabbage Soup, it is important to choose a
recipe that you find tasty, as you will be eating this for 7 days.
Since everyone has different tastes and preferences, there are a
number of different recipes that may be tried and used.
Here are some recipes for Cabbage Soup used for the Cabbage Soup
Diet.
Basic Cabbage Soup
This recipe is known as the basic Cabbage Soup recipe that was
used with the original diet.
1 head of Cabbage
6 Carrots
6 Onions (medium sized)
2 Red or Green Peppers
3 Tomatoes (large sized)
5 Celery Stalks (cleaned and trimmed)
½ cup of brown rice
salt and pepper to taste
Cut all vegetables and place in large pot or boiler. Cover with
water and bring to a boil.
Let boil for ten minutes. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for about
45 minutes, or until vegetables are soft and tender. Cook brown
rice separately, according to package instructions. When the soup
is nearly done simmering (about 45 minutes), add rice. Flavor with
salt and pepper to taste. Make sure soup is cooled before placing
in refrigerator.
Cabbage Soup: Lipton Onion Soup Version
In this version of the soup, you add Lipton Onion soup mix. This
adds a delicious flavor to the broth and makes the soup more preferable
to many people.
1 head of Cabbage
2 Onions (large)
1 Can of Tomatoes (16-28 ounce can)
2 Green or Red Peppers
4 Celery Stalks (trimmed)
1 package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
Herbs of your choice
6 Carrots (sliced)
½ -1 Cup of Green Beans
½ Cup of Balsamic Vinegar (you may omit this if you prefer)
If you'll notice, this version omits the brown rice. If you would
like to add Brown Rice, simply cook the rice separately and then
add before the soup is finished.
First, place all cut vegetables, Balsamic Vinegar, and Lipton Onion
soup mix in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and then
boil gently for 10 minutes. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 45
minutes or until vegetables are soft and tender. If you are adding
Brown Rice, cook it separately and add to your soup now. Season
the Cabbage Soup with salt and pepper to taste.
Remember, you can eat unlimited quantities of this soup throughout
your 7-day diet plan. Be sure to include the other foods recommended
on the 7-day diet plan along with beverages such as water, unsweetened
coffee, tea, and non-caloric drinks. Also, remember that you may
use this diet for seven days, then you must wait two weeks before
going on the diet again. Many people have found great success with
their weight loss by adhering to this 7-day
diet plan.
